1.The leader runs ahead
The leader is passionate about the destination and will readily move ahead at a faster rate to clear the way and be sure nothing will hinder the teams journey.
The challenge will be in seeing far enough in advance to address any hindrances and staying close enough to the team to sense their energy, their willingness to keep on, their understanding of the journey, to see the resources they need.
2. The leader walks beside
The leader has a sensing of when to move to the middle of the team, to hear the individual stories of success, of struggle, of longing and of wisdom.To know when to bring others with differing strengths together to build the team dymanic.
3. The leader cheers from behind
The leader can slip from the middle of the team to cheer from behind as he sees with fresh eyes and hears with open ears what is ground truth in the dailiness of the journey. The leader can step in to lift and shoulder the load, to step back to be replaced, to step to the side to make room for others to excell.
Leadership means putting on the running shoes, developing core strength that makes it easy to move ahead, in the middle of and behind the team.
Leaderhsip means showing people the way, walking along beside them and cheering them from behind.
