"I was immediately drawn to Ruth Esau as she approached leadership from a fascinating perspective. She taught us that we really had to understand ourselves and our own leadership style to be able to effectively lead.
Ruth taught me to ask myself a lot of questions about how to work through challenges that presented themselves while preparing for the future stages of growth for the nonprofit organization I just began.
A lot of self discovery was involved as we all learned about our strengths and what set of gifts essentially led us to where we were serving or working at the moment. It also helped us understand where we would most effectively lead in the future.
My peers in this cohort were seasoned leaders and there wasn’t one woman in this cohort who didn’t need something that Ruth had to offer. These women had worked hard for years pouring themselves out in successful ministries and businesses and they needed perspective. They needed someone who was excellent in their field to help them reach their next level of training and leadership so they were ready for what God had next for them to take on.
I saw women become better equipped, inspired, challenged, informed, educated, refined, encouraged, and prepared for the future ahead. Each one of us was deeply thankful for this ministry and this opportunity to evaluate the past, present and future, to set our eyes on Jesus and with incredibly seasoned guidance from Ruth, to plan, set goals, to forgive, to learn, to move forward, to overcome setbacks or walls, and toembrace what God had ahead.
With that said, each women was undeniably unique and different from one another in our approaches to life, people, success, and natural tendencies, yet Ruth intuitively as a seasoned pro, knew what questions to ask, how to guide the conversation, when to dig deeper in someone’s thought processes, and how to ask questions that helped each women discover the answers within themselves. She knew when to challenge and when to push, but also when to completely sit back and facilitate the process of discovery.
